Firing the Vulcan Weapon System was like sitting on the Star Wars Space Craft spitting lasers into the void. Only way louder than you can ever imagine. It was also a very technical job. For something that worked so poorly, we had to know a whole bunch about the radar and how to calibrate and use it.
Manual Mode was our favorite. 3000 rounds a minute, Kentucky windage but with a scope stabilized with a Gyro….. Yessir!
That Military Occupational Specialty was my favorite I think. I loved that Vulcan. 16R2P. P was for Paratrooper!
